The Youth Ministry Program at The Village Church is open to all students in Grades 6-12.
We focus on four objectives:
1. Education
Our Youth Bible Study meets during the 9 and 11 am services after the Apostles Creed. Sunday Bible Study is the main point of church contact for many of our students. Our Youth Group times (Sundays from 5–6:30 p.m. at The Village Church and Wednesdays from 6:15–8:30 p.m. at Reverb Church and 6:30–8:00 at Good News Church) feature teaching and small groups. For middle schoolers, we have Wild Wednesday during the school year. Students walk to the church from Pacetti Bay Middle School and Mill Creek Academy and stay until 5:00 p.m. Our time together features games, snacks, devotions and discussions, and homework time with tutoring help available. And for High School students, our Monday morning Student Prayer Breakfasts (8:00-8:45 a.m. during the school year), include Bible Study. prayer, a hot meal, and transportation to school. Summer Camps are great opportunities to grow and learn. We have partnered with Warren Willis Camp, Camp Susque, YoungLife Camps (Southwind and Rockbridge) and Realife Camp at Camp Anderson North and Passion Camp.
2. Fellowship
Throughout the year, The Village Church provides many opportunities for students to spend time together socially and at play, including games at Youth Group and Wild Wednesday gatherings, off site trips, meals on many non-school Mondays, and activities many Friday nights during the school year. In addition, we have a full slate of summer fellowship outings for students, spring break activities, and our annual All-Night Christmas Party and Shopping Extravaganza.
3. Service
We want to instill in our students the need for service to others and to give back to our church, community, region, and world. Students have the opportunity to participate in several missions and service projects throughout the year, including helping with Children’s Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, the Nursery, making signs for Kairos Prison Ministry, and working with Hunger Fight, Camp I Am Special and other organizations. Students also participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring, World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine, and Operation Christmas Child in addition to a Spring Break Service Blitz, sponsoring girls in Peru, and summer mission trips (past trips have gone to upstate New York, Tampa Bay, Orlando, St. Louis, Nashville, York, PA, Charleston, SC, St. Thomas and Bradenton).
4. Worship
We encourage students to be active participants in worship here at The Village Church or wherever their home church happens to be, and to make the worship of God a lifestyle and not just one hour of their week. We also attend worship events geared to youth throughout the year, including Youth Quake Live, Winter Jam and XII Conference. Students have also been active in the church choir and worship band.
