Our Youth Ministry Program at The Village Church is open to all students in Grades 6-12. We focus on four objectives:
1. Education Our Sunday Confirmation Classes, Bible Studies and Youth Group programs are all about helping students become familiar with God’s Word and to connect with His Son, Jesus Christ. We have completed a three-year overview of the Bible, studied the life and teachings of Jesus through the Gospel of Matthew, completed an in-depth study of the early Church in the Book of Acts, studied the chronological life of Jesus through all four Gospels, and topical studies on Sunday mornings while working through many different issues and scriptural topics in the evening. Confirmation classes meet at 11:00 a.m. in the Fall every third year. Our next Confirmation Class is scheduled for the Fall of 2020.
Our Youth Bible Study meets on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sunday of each month during the 9:00 a.m. service and beginning September 8 we will meet at during the 11:00 a.m. service on all even numbered dates. Sunday Bible Study is the main point of church contact for many of our students. We will also have Bible Study during the Thursday Refresh services on all even numbered dates.
Our Sunday Evening program meets every week (except Christmas week) and is open to all students in grades 6-12. Currently, nearly half of our Sunday night attendees come from beyond our church family, and many families have found their gateway to The Village Church through our youth program.
We have an online Bible Study Group for High School girls led by our 2019 Summer Intern Caitlyn Faubion. For more info, contact Caitlyn at firstname.lastname@example.org .
We also have Wild Wednesdays for our Pacetti Bay Middle School and Mill Creek Academy middle school students. The group meets after school until 5:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center.
Village Youth Students also have the opportunity to participate in camp during the year. We are affiliated with Camp Susque (an interdenominational camp in Central Pennsylvania), and Warren W. Willis United Methodist Camp in Fruitland Park, Florida.
2. Fellowship Throughout the year, The Village Church provides many opportunities for students to spend time together socially and at play, including games at Youth Group meetings, off site trips, meals on many non-school Mondays, and activities many Friday nights during the school year. In addition, we have a full slate of summer fellowship outings for students, spring break activities, and our annual All-Night Christmas Party and Shopping Extravaganza.
3. Service We want to instill in our students the need for service to others and to give back to our church, community, region, and world. Students have the opportunity to participate in several missions and service projects throughout the year, including helping with Children’s Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, the Nursery, making signs for Kairos Prison Ministry, and working with Builders Care, the Nourishment Network, Dignity U Wear, Habitat for Humanity, Haven Horse Ranch, The Homeless Coalition, Hunger Fight, and other organizations. Students also participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring, World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine, and Operation Christmas Child in addition to a Spring Break Service Blitz, sponsoring girls in Peru, and summer mission trips (past trips have gone to upstate New York, Tampa Bay, Orlando, St. Louis, Nashville, and York, PA).
4. Worship We encourage students to be active participants in worship here at The Village Church or wherever their home church happens to be, and to make the worship of God a lifestyle and not just one hour of their week. We also attend worship events geared to youth throughout the year, including Youth Quake Live, Winter Jam, and Rock the Universe or Night of Joy. Students have also been active in the church choir and worship band.
