Rev. Aaron Scott Long

Discipleship Pastor

Pastor Aaron joined our Ministry Team in January of 2014 and has added new dimensions to our worship, as well as bringing a wealth of administrative skills since answering his call to ministry here at The Village Church.

Pastor Aaron studied Music Education and Classic Voice at Florida Community College Jacksonville and at the University of North Florida. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from St. Leo University. His graduate studies include Worship and Music at Liberty University, and he received his Master of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary. Upon graduation, he received the Hoyt L. Hickman Award for "excellence in liturgical scholarship and practice." Pastor Aaron's secular background consists of management in banking, entrepreneurship, and real estate investing. He serves the Lord using the culmination of all of his life experiences.

Pastor Aaron is the Primary Pastor of Discipleship (process for visitors and members to connect), connecting with Mission partners, and Teaching.  The Discipleship Process includes all aspects of Christian formation and serving others. With Covid19 being the catalyst, this has included adding a new element to our evangelism and outreach- bringing our church online. With the help of Will and the AV team, Pastor Aaron will continue to improve this new form of worship: our stream, digital service, and community, and Church.

Pastor Aaron's passions are Social Justice, Evangelism, Teaching, and Market Place Ministry. Pastor Aaron volunteers regularly at Putnam Correctional Institution and Mission Partners 91.3 HopeFM. Hear him on the radio or live stream at WHIF.ORG as he shares Hope in Christ. Pastor Aaron's favorite Bible verse comes from John 15:13, "No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends." (NRSV)

Pastor Aaron and his wife, Angelica, together have eight children and two Grandchildren. Their family loves outdoor activities, especially camping, fishing, and going to the beach.
